2014 Colorado Weed Management Association (CWMA)Awards
County Commissioner Award-
This award recognizes a county commissioner from any county in the state who has advanced the objectives
of weed management through their support of programs in their county. Their support of the county
program is critical and invaluable and we honor that with this award.
Awarded to: Weld County Board of County Commissioners

The Weld County Commissioners (Doug Rademacher, William Garcia, Sean Conway, Barbara Kirkmeyer and
Mike Freeman) have shown great support for the Weld County Weed Division. They have provided the funding
to help the program grow with staff and equipment.They have offered the cash match needed to secure a
CWCB grant to remove Russian olive and tamarisk trees along with support for other grant applications. The
board has always been a great support when it comes to carrying out enforcements on property owners (and
lien's when necessary). The Weld County Commissioners are open to bringing new ideas about any weed or
vegetation related project before them for discussion. A BOCC representative makes it to the quarterly
advisory board meetings. It has been a pleasure working with them over the years. The support they have
shown is greatly appreciated; it makes doing my job easier knowing that they support the efforts we are trying
to accomplish.
