March 14, 2011 Weld County Environmental Health ATTN:Troy Swain 1555 North 17th Avenue Greeley, CO 80631 Re: Al Organics, Eaton Facility Office and Maintenance Facility, 16350 County Road 76,Weld County, CO Individual Sewage Disposal System, Permit No.:SP-0100013 Clarification for Evaluation of Proposed Additional Loading Impacts Mr.Swain: Per your discussion with Mr. Greg Kuenning of A-1 Organics, KRW Consultants has provided the following clarifications and revisions regarding the inspection and observation of the onsite wastewater system at 16350 County Road 76. Due to an increase in the number of employees at the Al Organics, Eaton Facility, Weld County has requested that the existing Individual Sewage Disposal System (ISDS) be evaluated for the proposed change in loading by a professional engineer. The following additional information has been supplied at your request: Revised Capacity—Current loading rates for the office and shop facility staff consists of 15 full-time office employees, 1 full time mechanic, 2 truck drivers and 3 customers per day. No future additional employees are anticipated at this time. No showers are available at the facility. Based on Appendix 30-A of the Weld County Code for Sewage Systems (Chapter 30), the current loading is estimated at 300 GPD, with a 1.5 peaking factor the loading is 450 GPD. This loading rate is less than the design peak loading rate of 525 gpd. 15 Employees X 15 gpd =225 gpd 1 Full Time Mechanic X 20 gpd=20 gpd 2 Truck Drivers X 20 gpd=40 gpd 3 Walk-in Coustomers X S gpd= 15 gpd Average Daily Flow=300 gpd Peak Daily Flow= 300 gpd X 1.5 peaking factor=450 gpd Existing Pump Station — A lift pump station exists and has been functioning as part of the onsite wastewater system. No records of this system were available at Weld County, therefore a detailed description has been provided at your request. 8000 W. 14th Avenue, Suite 200 • Lakewood, Colorado 80214 • (303) 239-9011 • Fax (303) 239-0745 Art's Sanitation Services performed repairs to the lift station, including the addition of a high water warning alarm and a new pump. An observation of the repaired system by KRW Consultants on December 1,2010 confirmed that it is currently functioning properly. The following details were supplied by Art's Sanitation Services: • The lift station is an existing 500-gallon precast concrete septic tank. • The pump is a 0.4 HP Little Giant. • The first float is the on/off. It is set to pump approximately 125 gallons per dose. • The second float is set 6" (125 gallons)above the pump off location. With the exception of the mechanical pump failure that has since been repaired, the ISDS appears to be functioning as designed.
