Covey SERVICES BUILDING 4201 EAST 72ND AVENUE COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO 80022 303-287-0171 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIVISION June 30, 1978 ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT Mr. Leonard Roe Weld County Commissioner 1521 10th Avenue Greeley, Colorado Dear Commissioner Roe: Enjoyed the opportunity of meeting you, Drew Scheltinga, Marge Easton of Farmer and Miner, and Rich Peterson of Hogan and Olhausen, Thursday, June 29, 1978. Under the parameters laid down by HUD on cost and scope of work, I feel the improvement to the community of Evanston will greatly outweigh their immediate concerns. These immediate concerns can be overcome I feel , by time plus several recommended corrections to existing problems. These recommendations are: 1) At the intersection of Williams Avenue and Johnson Street, the owner on the Southwest corner has apparently stopped the historical flow of surface drainage by filling in his property with soil . This drainage way should be opened so that the area on the East side of Johnson Street may drain properly to the West. 2) On Johnson Street approximately 300' North of Hedges Avenue the natural drainage way has been stopped by the elevation of Johnson Street; recommend drainage access be afforded by either an opened ditch or a closed pipe to the South towards Hedges Avenue on the East side of Johnson Street. Also recommend an interceptor ditch be provided East of Johnson Street to reduce the "Q's" at the aforementioned location. It may be possible to utilize Sullivan Ditch as a drainageway to assist the interceptor ditch. 78O526 neiziA b Y 9 / ig/97Y 3) On Dunmire Street there are 3 driveways all on the East side of this street which should be improved by either cutting to reduce the slope or filling to increase the slope. The first is approximately 200' South of Koch Avenue, the second is approximately 125' South of Hedges Avenue and the last is at the intersection of Dunmire Street and McClure Street. 4) All areas on the backside of the new curbs, should be filled and/or sloped to existing grade. Thanking you again for the opportunity to discuss these matters, please contact the writer if you have any questions. cerely, RC Clifton P.
