RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 58 (18TH STREET) BETWEEN FERN AVENUE AND
COUNTY ROAD 47.5 AND COUNTY ROAD 47.5 BETWEEN U.S. HIGHWAY 34 AND
COUNTY ROAD 58 FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR, FOR WELD COUNTY
PARKWAY CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance,temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on said County roads by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on
County roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic
thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the
Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 58 (18th Street) between Fern Avenue
and County Road 47.5, and County Road 47.5 between U.S. Highway 34 and County Road 58,
be temporarily closed, with said closure being effective September 29, 2014, for approximately
one year for the construction of the Weld County Parkway, and further, that standard official traffic
control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
This road closure agenda item is associated with the Weld County Parkway Project. To
construct the new concrete highway and new South Platte River Bridge the contractor must close
the following roadways for an extended period of time (estimate to be one year).
The following roads are scheduled to be closed from September 29, 2014, to September 28,
2015:
• WCR 58 (18th Street)from Fern Avenue to WCR 49.5. The average daily traffic count on this
roadway is about 720 vehicles per day.
• WCR 47.5 from SH 34 to WCR 58. The average daily traffic county on this roadway is about
500 vehicles per day.
