RURAL AjDHESSING
The following is an explanation or the basic procedures for rural add-
ressing in Weld County.
The starting point of the Weld County addressing grid is the southwest
corner of the county, this is the 0000 point. The addresses increase numer-
ically as you proceed NORTH and as you proceed EAST. The grid increases by
10_0 on each section line.
All north-south roads are odd numbered, all east-west roads are even
numbered. The county roads that begin with the numeral 5 run at diagonals
to the section lines so the entire length of the road must be considered
in order to determine it' s general direction and which grid lines will be
used for addressing the road i.e. Rd. 594 runs more east to west, so the
north—south grid is used to address it. Rd. 592 runs more north—south, so
the east—west grid is used.

The ' ORTH and WEST sides of the road are odd numbered, the last digit
of the house number must be 1 -5-5-7 or 9. The SOUTH and EAST sides of the
road are even numbered, the last digit must be 0-2-4-6 or 8.
To assign an address to a house accessed from a county road, you mea-
sure the footage from either the WEST or SOUTH section line, depending upon
the direction of the road, to the access point for the house. You then cont—
inue to measure the distance to the next section line to obtain the total
footage of that section.
To calculate the house number, divide the footage for the house by the
total footage for the section. See detail ;;`1 for example.

Rd. 1'5 Rd. 17
7000 8000
The formula used to calculate the address in this case is 3020 _ 5300 =
0.5698. Since the house is on the East side of Rd. 15, the last digit must
be an even number, so you round off to obtain the even number, i.e. 0.570.
Next drop the decimal point end add the thousand block to obtain the house
number, 10000 + 570 = 10570
Total breakdown of the address is as follows;
10570-
10 - Ten miles or tenth section line from the SOUTH county
line, which is also Rd. 22 ( see detail).
5 - Five tenths of a mile from the Rd. 22 section line.
72 - The portion between five and six tenths of a mile
that the access for the house actually takes off
from the county road and because 72 is an even number
it denotes that the house is on the EAST aide of Rd. 15.
The formula and breakdown works the same for the EAST-WEST roads except
you measure from the WEST section line to the EAST section line for the foot-
ayes.
You can determine what thousand block will a .ly for each address by
subtracting and dividing the 'ZEST or SOUTH road numbers depending upon which
road the house will be access from. Examples. Odd number roads subtract 1
then divide by 2, 47 - 1 = 46 46- 2 =25. Even number roads subtract 2 then
divide by 2, 53 - 2 = 56 56 - 2 = 23.
Rood 47 is the start of the 23300 block through the entire county, Rd. 58
is the start of the 25000 block throughout the county. Every odd & even
number rood can be figured in the same manner to determine the thousand
block for that rood.
SUBDIVISIONS
Subdivision roads are addressed in a similar manner with the general •
direction of each road considered.
Both subdivision roads and county roads that do not start, at e section
line are addressed in the following manner. ( see detail it 2)

To determine whst the lowest address will be on this type of road,
(Rd. A) measure the section line road closest to the road to be addressed.
In this example it would be road , .Lich i; 500' I' a_g. Next measure the
sub or county road for footage, which is 2000' , subtract this footage from
the total section footage, )500 — 2000 = ZOO. ZOO' is the distance from
the section line to the south end of Rd. A, this footsie will be added to
the footage for any houses or vacant lots accessed from Rd. A to determine
the house number. You would measure from the south end of Rd. A to obtain
the footage to the house to add to COO' .
Vacant lots in subs. are addressed by mensurine to the center of each
lot to calculate the house nuaber.
Road S in detail „ 2 is addressed as a NORTH — SOJTid road for the
entire lensth even though part of it runs EAST — W2.ST. The reason for this
is because the majority of it runs NORTH — SOUTH, and has only one designation.
The EAST — WEST portion of road S can be addressed as .SA. T — .;oar only if
it is _ssirned a different designation than Rd. B. ( such as R . C)
Curvilinear and diagonal roads are addressed according to their pre—
dominant line of direction, and have no thousand block designations.
