Some 35 4-H teams including over 625 4-H members play ball during a 3 game a night, 5 nights a week schedule during June and July. The field is leased from the Platte Valley School District and all improvements, lights, fence, dugouts , etc. , are the responsibility of 4-H. The initial improvements were installed in the mid 60's and now the lights are in need of replacement. The fixtures are obsolete, thus replacement parts are not available and the incandescent lights are expensive to operate. The wood poles are badly shell rotted and need replacing. Therefore, it is requested that consideration be given to a lighting system for this field from funding in the Conservation Trust Fund. The normal cost to adequately light a softball field with steel poles, proper wiring, and up to date fixtures is $22,000.00. Thank you for your consideration. Very truly yours, j - Stanley L. COLORADO August 29, 1978 Ed Dunbar. Chairman Board of County Commissioners P.0, Box 758 Greeley, Colorado 90631 Dear Mr. Dunbar, Chairman Consider this a. request for a portion of the Conservation Trust Fund monies allocated to the County, for the Town of Keen- esburg. The Town is considering a sprinkling system for the existing park. The park now is totally dependent on irrigation water which has become limited to about four waterinms per year which is not nearly enough. I might add we do have a. Conservation Trust Fund established, which would be committed to the improvement. The request would probably he for 2/3 or al] of the improvement as the fund balance of the Town is only a little over $500.00, As of now we have not looked into bids of any kind so have no idea what to expect cost wise, Any consideration will be appreciated.
