RE: DENOMINATION OF THE NEW COUNTY ROAD 49/47 ALIGNMENT (ALSO KNOWN
AS COUNTY ROAD 49 EXTENSION PROJECT) AS "WELD COUNTY PARKWAY"
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, County Road 49/47, between U.S. Highway 34 and County Road 60.5 is a
new road that did not previously exist and is needed to improve the overall regional
transportation system, and
WHEREAS, said roadway will be an important link to providing a regional economic
development benefit, which will enhance the movement of people and goods in a more direct
route, and
WHEREAS, as evidenced in the epic September 2013 flooding, the need for another
north/south roadway to move people and goods in a safe economical manner is a critical
transportation need to ensuring the functional integrity and viability of the entire regional
roadway network, and
WHEREAS, the Board now deems it desirable to officially denominate said stretch of
roadway as the "Weld County Parkway".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, those portions of County Road 47/49, between U.S. Highway 34 and
County Road 60.5 be and hereby is denominated as the "Weld County Parkway".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Weld County Department of Public
Works be, and hereby is, directed to add road signs with the following denomination at
appropriate locations along said roadway: WELD COUNTY PARKWAY.

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 12th day of May, A.D., 2014.
