Celebrating a Family for Every Child
Proclamation
Weld County Adoption Day 2014
WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children in the U.S. foster care system are waiting to be
adopted; more than 26,000 youth turn 18 every year without having a forever family;
more than 280 children in Colorado are waiting for forever families and legal
permanency; and
WHEREAS, more than 30 children in Weld County are waiting for forever families and
legal permanency; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County recognizes the
importance of giving children and youth permanent, safe and loving families through
adoption; and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Human Services will hold a special
celebration on Friday, November 21st, 2014 (in association with National Adoption Day
on Saturday, November 22nd ), to finalize the adoptions of local children and join other
organizations to celebrate all adoptions; and
WHEREAS, this effort, along with similar celebrations in all 50 states, the District of
Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico will offer children the chance to live with stable and
loving families and encourage other dedicated individuals to make a powerful difference
in the life of a child through adoption.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE KNOW that the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County hereby proclaims November 21, 2014, as WELD COUNTY ADOPTION
DAY, and November 22, 2014 as NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY in this County, and in so
doing, urges all citizens to join in a national effort to raise awareness about the
importance of adoption.
