I am pretty sure that I would have passed that complaint on to Janet Carter, our traffic engineer, for follow-up since she had the oil industry contacts. She would have called the oil well operator to express the concerns and perhaps get some assistance with the gravel road damages. Janet is currently out on maternity leave. Today I asked Curtis, our grader division supervisor, to check records and see what we did in response to the road damages described in the complaint. We usually get those repaired within the week that they come in, maybe faster. You can close this complaint out. David Bauer, P.E., CFM Weld County Public Works Department P.O. Looks like it was forwarded awhile ago and I need to figure out where it landed. It does not appear to have been passed around nor to have been placed on an agenda as communications. All I have is a sticky note saying it was forwarded to Dave B on May 8, 2013. Please review and assist. From: Jamie Presgrove [mailto:Jamie.Presgrove@crmcwv.orq] Sent: Wednesday, May 08, 2013 7:33 AM To: Jennifer Fuller Subject: roads Good Morning Commissioners, We live on County Road 80 between Co. Rd 45 and 43. This is a dirt road. Our county road grader person has always done an excellent job of caring for the road. He obviously knows what he is doing and cares about the community. Recently Ensign came in to the area and is drilling. They have literally destroyed the road with all their vehicles and equipment. They created horrible ruts and damage. They then fixed it, only enough that they could get their vehicles into the site. The road is a disaster and this is unfair to the people who live in the area and use the road. Our road grader guy does his very best for us but it is so hard and so bad, his blade bounces off the hard packed mess. The blacktop at Co. Rd. 43 and county road 80 is disintegrating further daily due to the extensive use by heavy vehicles. The same thing is happening at Co. Road 43 and Highway 14. There are numerous other locations impacted by this equipment. It causes damage to our vehicles when they drop into holes because we cannot avoid them. I don't care that the county benefits financially by having energy companies come in when we are having to live with their mess on a daily basis. Those people have no vested interest in taking care of our roads. These people are not being good neighbors. The amount of damage appearing all over the county is something we will never recover from unless they are accountable for what they are doing to us. . As residents we pay our taxes and deserve reasonable roads. The obvious distain this drilling company and others have for the local folks is not ok. This morning as I drove by the drive into the drilling site, I was nearly hit by one of their employees leaving the site at a high rate of speed and he almost did not stop prior to entering the roadway. This is not the first time vehicles have come barreling out of the site. We would appreciate receiving an answer as to what is going to be done to address this issue. What action can we take to further get this problem solved? It's going to destroy our county road system without making them accountable. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Jamie C.
