REMARKS: The Aid to Dependent Children caseload increased by 66 families during March.
Unemployed male head of households accounted for 26 of the 66 additional families
qualifying for assistance. Aid to Needy Disabled individuals increased by 21 individuals.
Other public assistance categories did not show remarkable change.
Food Stamp sales and certifications declined during March with 420 fewer families buying
Food Stamps compared with the prior month. Nevertheless, Food Stamp sales for March,
1975 were 22% higher than the same month in 1974. Eligibility certification interviews
also declined in March with 985 interviews conducted versus 1,271 interviews conducted
by Food Stamp staff in February. Unemployed head of households accounted for 116 (39%)
of the 301 new applications approved for March.
Public Assistance expenditures for March remained at about the same level as was re-
ported for the prior month. The March, 1975 amount is $24,558 higher than the same
month in 1974.
