SUBJECT: LGP Dozer Bid , 61400064
The Public Works Department recommends purchasing a used machine rather than a new machine. We
solicited bids for new or used machines. The lowest bid for a new machine was from 4 Rivers Equipment for
$204,000 (John Deere). Three used machines were offered by Titan Machinery (Case) and the best of those
was a very low hour dozer(550 hours) at a cost of$175,777.00 (Bid#4 for a 2011 Case 1650L). The used
machine carries a full machine warranty through June 1, 2016. That matches the warrant end date of a new
John Deere dozer.
I tested the machine and it is in very good condition and will suit our needs. By awarding the bid to Titan
Machinery for the best of the low hour used machines, we will save $29,123.00, we will get the same warranty
as a new machine, and the used machine can be delivered within a couple of weeks versus 12 weeks for a
new machine.
There is $375,000 budgeted for this purchase.
