✓ I TO: Clerk to the Board DATE: May 19, 2014
I_O N T Y FROM: Janet Lundquist, Public Works
IT SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs at Various Locations on CR 127
•
Public Works requests approval to install a traffic regulatory sign (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 127
with CR 110, CR 116, and CR 118. Traffic would be stopped in the eastbound direction on CR 110 as the
roadway intersects CR 127. Traffic would be stopped in the westbound direction on CR 116 as the roadway
intersects CR 127. Traffic would be stopped in the eastbound direction on CR 118 as the roadway intersects
CR 127.
The most current traffic count for CR 127 was taken in March 2013 with an AADT of 990. CR 110, CR 116, and
CR 118 are all gravel roads and their traffic counts are listed respectively, 20 vpd, 18 vpd, 17 vpd with these
traffic counts taken in 2010. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) section 2B.04 suggests
that stop signs should be placed at an intersection of a less important road with a main road where application
of the normal right-of-way rule would not be expected to provide reasonable compliance with the law. Public
Works recommends the installation of these stop signs along CR 127 due to the drastic increase in traffic on
CR 127 and for consistency of signage in this area.
