RE: CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE EFFECT OF RESOLUTION #2011-1675 - WELD
COUNTY CORONER
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 6-1 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter,
effective January 1, 2003, the County Coroner shall be appointed by the Board of Weld County
Commissioners, and
WHEREAS, by and through Resolution #2010-2990, the Board appointed Dr. James A.
Wilkerson as Weld County Coroner/Medical Examiner, effective January 1, 2011, and
WHEREAS, by and through Resolution #2011-1675, the Board appointed Mark Ward as
Weld County Coroner, effective July 1, 2011, to replace Dr. Wilkerson, with said appointment to
continue until the Board decides that such appointment shall end, and
WHEREAS,the intent of Resolution#2011-1675 was for the appointment of Dr. Wilkerson
as Weld County Coroner/Medical Examiner to end as of July 1, 2011.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
it be, and hereby is, clarified that the intent of Resolution #2011-1675 was for the appointment of
Dr. Wilkerson as Weld County Coroner/Medical Examiner to end as of July 1, 2011.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the day 3rd of November, A.D., 2014.
