RE: INSTALLATION OF "STOP" SIGN ON WEST 49TH STREET AT 35TH
AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Engineering Services
has recommended to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado that a "Stop" traffic device be installed on West 49th
Street at 35th Avenue to insure safeto to the traveling public,
and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has studied the
recommendations of the Department of Engineering Services and
has determined that said sign is necessary for the protection of
the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the Department of
Engineering is directed to install a "Stop" sign on West 49th
Street at 35th Avenue for the safety of the general public, and
that said sign must conform to the State Manual and specifications .
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 10th day of
September, A.D. , 1979 .

subject: Intersection of 35th Avenue and 49th Street
The intersection of 35th Avenue and 49th Street is blind to motorists
due to a high embankment at the northwest corner, making it blind to
motorists proceeding south and motorists proceeding east approaching
the intersection.
When motorists make their stop on 35th Avenue, they have to pull out
into the intersection to see what is approaching from the west. Motorists
proceeding east, executing a left hand turn are cutting the corner short
and are half way into the south bound lane of 35th Avenue.
My recommendation would be to install a stop device on west 49th Street
stopping the east bound traffic, to require a stop instead of cutting
the corner short. This would make this intersection a 3-way stop.
If approved the embankment will be squared to improve traffic control .
