The Public Works Department recommends awarding this bid to the second low bidder, 4 Rivers Equipment,
for one John Deere 770G Motor Grader. Power Equipment Company was the lowest bidder. However, due to
higher operating costs when compared to like machines in our fleet, purchasing the John Deere Motor Grader
is in the best interest of the Public Works Department.
Attached is a per hour cost breakdown of like equipment.
The base price of the machine is $187,900. We would like the following options: Option B (GPS/Deluxe)
which is included in the base price; Option C (Removable Front Fenders) is $1,500; Option D (Removable
Rear Fenders) is $3,000; Option F (Auto Shift Transmission) which is included in the base price; Option H (5
Yr/7500 Hour Extended Warranty) is $7,725; Option I (Spare Wheel) is $2,025; Option K (Back Up Camera) is
$2,700; and Option L ("V" Plow) is $10,125.00.
The cost for one John Deere 770G Motor Grader from 4 Rivers Equipment with the above options is
$214,975.00. There is $240,000 budgeted for this purchase.
