RE: ESTABLISHMENT OF URBAN AREA BOUNDARIES
FOR BRIGHTON, COLORADO, PROJECTED TO 1980
WHEREAS , pursuant to law, the Board of County Com-
missioners , Weld County, Colorado, is vested with the respon-
sibility of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado,
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the 1973 Federal-Aid Highway
Act, the procedure for establishing boundaried for urban area
of over 5000 population has been modified, and
WHEREAS , the Board has determined that it would be
desirous and in the best interests of the County to properly
define and establish the City of Brighton, Colorado, urban
areas , projected to 1980, thus providing increased flexibility
to various federally aided highway programs having direct re-
ference to said urban area , and
WHEREAS , in accordance with the modified procedure,
the City of Brighton urban area, projected to 1980, has been
determined to be as shown on copy of plat, marked "Exhibit A" ,
attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , by the Board of County
Commissioners , Weld County, Colorado, that the urban area boun-
dary map of the City of Brighton, Colorado, urban area, projected
to 1980 , referred to as "Exhibit A" , be, and the same is hereby
approved.
The above and foregoing resolution was, on motion
duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote this
9th day of February, 1976 .

BEFORE THE WELD COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION OF RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Moved by Mr. Chuck Carlson that the following resolution be intro-
duced for passage by the Weld County Planning Commission:
Be it therefore resolved by the Weld County Planning Commission
that the following be recommended to the Board of County Commissioners:
Approval of the Urban System Boundary for the City of Brighton as defined
by maps and other materials submitted to the Board of County Commissioners,
January 16, 1976, which are attached hereof and made a part of this
resolution. This approval is recommended for the following reasons:
1 . The proposed urban system boundary will not create negative impact on
Weld County, nor will it affect maintenance or construction responsibilities
on Weld County road and highway systems.
2. The proposed urban boundary coincides with the Brighton Comprehensive Plan
which Weld County Commissioners have approved in concept.
3. The designation will enable the City of Brighton to apply for, and
consequently utilize, urban systems funds for transportation systems
in the designated areas once they are annexed and become a part of
Brighton's maintenance responsibilities.

The Chairman declared the motion passed and ordered that a certified copy
of this Resolution be forwarded with the file of this case to the Board of
County Commissioners for further proceedings.

County Planning Commission , do hereby certify that the above and
foregoing Resolution is a true copy of the Resolution of the
Planning Commission of Weld County , Colorado , adopted on
Fahruary 3, 1976 and recorded in Book No . of the
proceedings of the said Planning Commission .

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Submitted herewith are the original and five copies of a
basic resolution for your approval of the proposed Urban System
Boundary for the City of Brighton, projected to the year 1980.
As shown on the map, we have included a portion of Weld
County lying between the old Brighton-Fort Lupton highway and
U. S. 85, north of County Line Road and south of Weld County
Road No. 21/2. These limits were set to include possible future
annexation of the specified area to the City of Brighton, as has
previously been discussed with the Commissioners and the Weld
County Planning Commission.
The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973 requires the approval
of the Plan by the County Commissioners of the counties within
which the Urban System is so designated.
The Brighton Planning Commission, City Council, and the
Board of County Commissioners of Adams County have signed a
similar resolution, approving the Urban System Boundary as
shown on the maps.
The City of Brighton respectfully requests the Board ' s
early review, approval, and the Chairman ' s signature on the
Resolution submitted.
