2014 Awards
Awarding safety and wellness accomplishments is an important part of Weld County's loss
prevention program. Each year, the Safety and Wellness Committee reviews nominations for an
individual wellness award and an individual safety award, and forwards those recommendations
to the Board of Commissioners. The awards recognizes employees for outstanding
accomplishments by either continually supporting safety and wellness issues while carrying out
their daily work or for performing a single act that goes beyond the normal scope of
employment.
2014-3804
2014 Individual Wellness Award
The Board of Commissioners presents the 2014 Individual Wellness Award to Karina Amaya
of the Department of Human Services. Karina previously struggled with her weight and tried
unhealthy ways of losing weight in the past; however, in May, 2014, Karina decided to make
a change to become healthy and fit the right way, and joined a gym, began working with a
trainer, and consulted with a nutritionist. Karina maintains a busy lifestyle with working full-
time, attending school online, and parenting three boys, but she motivates others around her
with her great attitude towards healthy eating and exercise, and she is truly an inspiration to
others by living well and being a true wellness champion. The Commissioners are pleased to
recognize Karina for her healthy efforts.

2014 Individual Safety Award 2014-3805
The Board of Commissioners presents the 2014 Individual Safety Award to Renee Fielder of
the Treasurer's Office. Renee provides ongoing emergency response training, procedures, and
updates for employees within her department, and works diligently to ensure employees and
visitors to her building remain in a safe environment. The Board is pleased to recognize
Renee for keeping employees safe!

2014 Volunteer of the Year Award
The Board of Commissioners presents the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award to Lisa Aguirre of
the Sheriffs Office. Lisa has been involved with the United Way Day of Action for the past
three years, recruiting co-workers and family members to join her, and this past year she was
also involved with the Wellness on the Move series by volunteering at the Weld Food Bank.
Lisa believes it is important to give back to the community in which she lives and serves, and the
Board is pleased to recognize Lisa for encouraging others to be passionate about active service.
