COLORADO FromWeld County Engineer
Subject: Petition to pave 3 miles of Weld County Road 45 from State 392
to Weld County Road 74.
Attached is a traffic count indicating A.D.T. 's 46 to 164, measured in three
locations.
This three mile section is basically a good gravel road. There are washboards
in a few places and a few soft spots that need some work.
Recommendation: Based on the relatively low traffic count, do not pave. Repair
the soft spots and continue routine maintenance.

This road has been in a wash-board condition most of tim
~ time, in spite of the usual amount of grading done. It 's ruin—
• ing our cars and trucks . We feel this is an unnecessary financial
burden. Three new homes have been erected in this area in the
last year, and there will be at least three more in the next
year. At present , on road 45 within this three mile area , there
are fifteen continuously occupied family dwellings , and one under
construction. This does not include the families on roads 72 and
70 that use this means of travel to Greeley and Eaton. A count
of the heavy traffic would justify the expense of oiling.
We invite you to drive these three miles at just 35 miles
per hour, (at faster speeds it becomes hazardous to control a
vehicle) .
We hope you can see possible to take care of this situation
in the very near future.
