4. FIRST AID MEASURES
General Advice Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur
Eye Contact Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Seek immediate medical attention/advice.
Skin Contact Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and
shoes. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
Inhalation Move to fresh air. If breathing Is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial
respiration. Seek immediate medical attention/advice.
Ingestion Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse
mouth. Following ingestion, onset of symptoms may be delayed by 12-24 hours.Admission
to hospital should be the first priority even if symptoms are absent.
Notes to Physician Gastric lavage or emesis should be performed as soon as possible to minimize absorption,
and is recommended within 4 hours of ingestion. Ethanol may be given intravenously to
prevent build up of toxic metabolites and increase hepatic elimination of methanol.
Intravenous folic acid may also assist in reducing the toxic effects of methanol metabolites.
Visual disturbances and metabolic acidosis may occur and dialysis, preferably hemodialysis
may be employed to treat these complications
5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

Reproductive Toxicity Contains a known or suspected reproductive toxin
Teratogenic Effects May cause harm to the unborn child
Target Organ Effects Eyes, Skin, Liver, Kidney, Respiratory system, Central nervous system(CNS).
Other Adverse Effects Chronic inhalation exposure to xylene causes midfrequency hearing loss in laboratory
animals.Xylene reacts synergistically with n-hexane to enhance hearing loss. Long term
exposure of xylene may cause nervous system effects with symptoms such as headaches,
irritability,depression, insomnia,agitation,extreme tiredness, tremors,Impaired
concentration and short term memory. The blood platelet count may be reduced on
exposure to xylene which is reversible when exposure is stopped.

Target Organ Effects Eyes, Skin, Liver, Kidney, Respiratory system, Central nervous system(CNS).
Other Adverse Effects Chronic inhalation exposure to xylene causes midfrequency hearing loss in laboratory
animals.Xytene reacts synergistically with n•hexane to enhance hearing loss. Long term
exposure of xylene may cause nervous system effects with symptoms such as headaches,
irritability,depression,insomnia,agitation,extreme tiredness,tremors,impaired
concentration and short farm memory The blood platelet count may be reduced on
exposure to xylene which is reversible when exposure is stopped.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
General Advice Get medical attention Immediately If symptoms occur.
Eye Contact Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Seek immediate medical attention/advice.
Skin Contact Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and
shoes. Get medical attention Immediately if symptoms occur.
inhalation Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If riot breathing, give artificial
respiration. Seek Immediate medical attention/advice.
Ingestion Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do NOT Induce vomiting. Clean
mouth with water and afterwards drink plenty of water. Following ingestion, onset of
symptoms may be delayed by 12-24 hours.Admission to hospital should be the first priority
even If symptoms are absent.
Notes to Physician Gastric lavage or emesis should be performed as soon as possible to minimize absorption.
and is recommended within 4 hours of ingestion. Ethanol may be given intravenously to
prevent build up of toxic metabolites and increase hepatic elimination of methanol.
Intravenous folic acid may also assist in reducing the toxic effects of methanol metabolites
Visual disturbances and metabolic acidosis may occur end dialysis, preferably hemodlalysis
may be employed to treat these complications.
5. FIRE-FIGHTiNG M 41818
Flammable Properties Flammable.
Flash Point 33.9°C/93°F
Suitable Extinguishing Media Water spray. Carbon dioxide(C02). Foam. Dry powder.
2!8
MC C4252-MC C4262 Revision Date 21-Jan 2011
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire
Hazardous Combustion Products Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides(NOx), Phosphorus oxides,
Ammonia, Hydrogen chloride gas.
Explosion Data
Sensitivity to Mechanical Impact Not sensitive
Sensitivity to Static Discharge May be Ignited by heat, sparks or flames.
Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical
Most vapors are heavier than air. They will spread along ground and collect in low or confined areas(sewers, basements, tanks),
Vapors may travel to areas away from work site before Igniting/flashing back to vapor source.
Protective Equipment and Precautions for Firefighters
As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand,MSHA/NIOSH(approved or equivalent)and full
protective gear

General Advice Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur.
Eye Contact Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Seek immediate medical attention/advice.
Skin Contact Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and
shoes. Get medical attention If Irritation develops and persists.
Inhalation Move to fresh air. If breathing Is difficult, give oxygen, If not breathing, give artificial
respiration. Seek Immediate medical attention/advice.
Ingestion Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person, Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse
mouth. Following ingestion, onset of symptoms may be delayed by 12-24 hours.Admission
to hospital should be the first priority even if symptoms are absent.
Notes to Physician Gastric lavage or emesls should be performed as soon as possible to minimize absorption,
and is recommended within 4 hours of ingestion.Ethanol may be given Intravenously to
prevent build up of toxic metabolites and increase hepatic elimination of methanol.
Intravenous folic acid may also assist in reducing the toxic effects of methanol metabolites,
Visual disturbances and metabolic acidosis may occur and dialysis, preferably hemodlalysis
may be employed to treat these complications.
