GENERAL CAMP POLICIES
CAMPING IS FUN AND WE DON'T WANT TO BURDEN YOU WITH A LOT OF DO'S AND
DON'TS . WE DO HAVE A FEW RULES LISTED HOWEVER, THAT CANNOT BE BROKEN
1 . Campers may leave den areas only with the permission of their den leaders, then only with
a buddy. This applies to all reasons for being out of the den.
2. A den roster will be filled out everyrhy by each den leader immediately following arrival
at camp. Anyone leaving camp for any reason must sign out at headquarters.
3. The boys must not leave ...e central area without their den lea. .
4. The boys should not bring knives, matches or pets of any kind:
THE BUDDY SYSTEM What is it', It is a method of keeping your boys in some semblance
of order. The system is used at all Boy Scout functions. Simply defined, it is the pc firing off
of boys so that each boy has a buddy to watch out for. Whenevery your boys are out of their
den they must have a buddy. This need not be the sam buddy every time, in fact we encourage
you to switch the boys around often, so that they get to know other boys. Do not let any boy
leave a den area without another boy. This is a safety practice, as well as a menas of giving
the boys someone to be with, to help and watch out for. If you are out of your den, they can
look out for each other which helps your job, instead of 1 watching 10, you have 10 watching
10. Help your boys to realize that their buddies are their responsibilities. A buddy need not
be a boy. It can be a Day Camp Den Chief or a leader if that is what the situation requires.
Buddies may also come in threes if the case so dictates.' Sometimes you need three to run an
errand. Use your common sense, but remember, never let the boys leave the den alone.
DEN CHEW
Den Chief's are encouraged to attend with their dens. They may buy T-shirts for $2.75 each,
and milk for 15e. They do not pay the registeration fee.
ADVANCEMENT IN CAMP - Each boy will be given a slip listing the advancemcnthe earns
during camp. The slip will be given as the advancement is completed. The boys.are to.take
the sheets home to their parents and they may sign the boy's book if they wish. OUR STAFF
WILL NOT SIGN ANY BOOKS
OTHERS IN CAMP Only boys registered for Akela Drys are allowed on the camp premises.
No other children will be allowed in camp. The individual packs should arrange their own
day care centers for parents who are bringing the boys to camp.
QUARTER-MASTERS STORE - Campers; Will be able to purchase extra milk for 150 , ice cream
bars for 200. We will also have Akela Day patches for 50e and cups for-75e.
GENERAL INFORMATION

are during the opening and closing ceremonies. The awards ceremony will be he►d on
Wednesday, June 14, from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m.
Drinking water will be available.. Bring your own canteen if you have one. Each, den might
also want to bring insect repellent and sun tan loition

All Cub Scouts, Webelos and camp staff are required to turn in a health form so it can be on

DEAR CUBMASTER:
PLEASE - don't forget that May 26 is the cut-off date :;or Day Camp registration.
PLEASE - don't gorget that only 280 Cub Scouts will be accepted for Cub Scout Day
Camp. Don't wait too long and run the chance of being left out. I'm sorry but the camp
staff just cannot handle more boys than that. We don't have.°problem with Webelos.
Akela Days T-shirt will be issued when final registration is made so be sure you have
the boys sizes. The shirts come small, medium and large with very little shrinkage. Do not
give out the shirts until a couple of days before Day Camp on or about June 8. Some extra
shirts are usually available at the Scout Office.
Looking forward to our Day Camp for 1978. Weld District has the top camp in the
council and it will be even better this year. Five days of fun for the boys and we think the
adults and staff have just as much fun.
