Dear Commissioner Rademacher ,
I believe that you are our representative for the district in
which we reside . Although this is rather late in coming to you , I
would like you to know that both my husband and I have
concerns about the Mead Compression Plant that Andarko is
currently pursuing in our neighborhood .
While we do live in the country , it is to our dismay that the gas
nd oil industries are buying up the large acreages in our area .
Yet another farm will be eaten up by gas / oil tanks , parking , and
more drills. While we understand the need to drill,and the
economic impact it has on our community,county and state, it
_till concerns us that larger farms will be converted to an
industry that is not related to
agriculture.
While we know that we cannot dictate what goes on once a farm
is bought,we must voice our concerns to those who will listen.
The Mead Compression Plant will be built directly west of the
Kawakami Farm property. We will be looking directly at this
plant from our front window to our newly constructed home
(built in 2008). We chose this site on our family farm 1)for the
view and 2) because of the many gas/oil pipelines already on our
property and we had to maneuver our house to fit between the
ipelines.
Once this plant is built,we will be looking directly at(what we
deem)ugly, industrial buildings that will certainly detract from
the country view that we value. We are already looking directly
at an oil/gas holding tank that isn't very farm-like or country
like. We ask that the Weld Board of Commissioners ask
Anadarko place landscaping to "hide" their facilities. We also
ask the Commissioners to invite those of us who will be their
neighbors to either have input or approval of this landscaping.
At one point,we were told that Anadarko was planning to sell a
-,ortion of this land that they had purchased to Tri-State
veneration and Transmission Association who would then
construct an electrical substation. Because of the number of

concerns that were voiced,they will be looking elsewhere,but
we are concerned that if they cannot find another location,
.hey may come back and try this location again. This is one area
that we are definitely opposed!
We were told that the compression plant will need electricity
and that one way or another,something (large electrical lines,
or a small electrical plant)will have to be constructed. With
that in mind,then perhaps this is not the place for the
compression plant. Perhaps they should look elsewhere. There
are just too many people who live very close to this property.
The Jimenez family has 3 very young children,and they will be
literally below the area where the compression plant will be
located. This may be just a little too close to such a facility.
"hey already face ground water seepage that comes up from
the irrigation ditch that runs just to the southwest of them.
This adds one more concern to such a young family.
Another concern we have,though it may not affect us, but will
affect the Jimenez family,and Mr. Peacock(who lives just
behind the Jimenez's) is that of the noise that would be
experienced if the electrical plant goes in and that is the noise
that may be generated. Tri-State has told us that the noise
level is roughly 45-50 dB,which is the equivalent to having a
conversation in a home. However,most of us do not have running
conversations at home 24 hours a day. It may be annoying to
hose who live close enough to hear it.
I hope you will find the time to read my concerns. Thank you for

the work that you ao,and I know that you,TOO,are concerned
about the loss of farmland in our county. Please note that I
.1ave attached a photo of our west view from our balcony to the
west (which is where the Mead Compression Station will be
built).

I am writing in regard to the Mead Compressor Station that is being proposed by Anadarko . My property is
adjacent to the property purchased by Anadarko . My home is within 100 feet of the proposed location for the
compressor station and electrical substation . I am concerned about what is happening to our county, our
neighborhood, and most of all my home and family because of the oil and gas industry.
Anadarko representatives may claim that compressor stations do not cause air pollution . However, the Fort
Lupton Compressor Station located at 16116 COUNTY ROAD 22 NW NW SEC 14 T2N R66W releases the
following hazardous pollutants per year.

In addition,Anadarko has a history of polluting.In 2007,they settled a case with the EPA for alleged violations
at the Frederick Compressor Station.
Not only will air pollutants affect my family,including my 9 year old daughter,7 year old daughter and 3 year
old son,but it will have an effect that reaches farther than we may think.The proposed compressor station will
be placed in the middle of rich agricultural lands and adjacent to the Beeman Ditch that provides irrigation
water to vast amounts of farmland.Crops from the surrounding areas may be contaminated by pollutants
--leased from the station.Anadarko representatives have discounted our concerns voiced at the initial Planning
id Zoning Commission meeting and passed them off as claims created by"activist groups"However,when it
comes to the lives of my children I prefer to take the conservative standpoint and would rather"be safe than
sorry".The industry is too new to know the true effects of the compressor stations and it would be better to keep
them away from existing homes,especially with young children.
The USR Application for the Mead Compressor Station has incomplete and inaccurate information.The
Depiction of Signs at Entrance Gate included in the Application does not accurately reflect what will actually be
displayed.I have attached pictures showing the signs that are actually displayed at compressor stations.These
were taken at the Vollmar Compressor station that runs along the pipeline located approximately 3 miles south
of the proposed Mead Compressor Station.The lack of full details submitted with the plan are cause for denial
since the hazards of the facility are not being fully disclosed with the USR Application.
We are located in a 100-year floodplain in Zone A and Anadarko has not submitted an application for a
Floodplain Development Permit as required by Weld County Code Section 23-11-360.Hydrologic studies need
to be done to evaluate the groundwater levels at the Mead Compressor Station.Over the last 10 years the water
table has risen since the wells could no longer be used by farmers.The groundwater is so high that it floods
basements of multiple homes in our neighborhood every summer,including my 3400 square feet basement.The
proposed site is not only located at a property with a high water table,it is adjacent to the Beeman Ditch,which
engineers have found is intermixing with the groundwater.Nathan Kaiser of Anadarko has stated at the initial
planning and Zoning meeting that the water table levels are irrelevant since nothing is built underground.
[owever,page 11 of the USR Application states"Non-routine waste(e.g.spills or releases)will be managed in
accordance with Kerr-McGee's Emergency Response and Oil Spill Contingency Plan...Additionally,a site-
specific Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure(SPCC)Plan will be developed to outline appropriate
actions to be taken in the event of a spill or release."This acknowledgement in the USR Application that there

may be possible spills should be a, termining factor for your denial of the—pplication.The contamination
would reach into the basements of all homes that have water seepage.Even more disturbing is that it would seep
into the groundwater and intermix with the Beeman Ditch,therefore contaminating the irrigation water that
ipplies thousands of acres of farmland.
Anadarko did not do any other site studies when planning for the Mead Compressor Station as stated by Nathan
Keiser,the Anadarko Municipal Planning Analyst.They simply found a farm that was for sale and bought it.
They did not even perform any applications with the Planning and Zoning Commission to find out if it could be
used for their purposes prior to purchasing the land.Anadarko knew that they would be able to do anything they
wanted without any regard to the surrounding homeowners and families.I would recommend that their plan be
denied and that they find a better site to build the compressor station.There is land to the north and south of the
proposed site,that has the pipeline running through it that could be used for a compressor station,and it is more
remote,without families and homes nearby,and without an adjacent major irrigation canal that supplies water
to our farmland.

my home.They will both be greatly impacted by your decision.I hope you consider all aspects of this very
important decision that has been entrusted to you.
