RE: MS-6 Weld Co. , Grover Solid Waste 62296
Dear Mr. Paul :
Please find enclosed a copy of the latest annual inspection for the
Grover Solid Waste Disposal Site. You will notice that this facility
fails to meet minimum standards because of the lack of adequate cover
and because the solid waste is being dumped directly into water.
Unsatisfactory solid waste disposal is a problem not only in Grover but
in all of Northeastern Weld County, with undesignated disposal sites
existing near Briggsdale, New Raymer, and Herford. Due to the large area
which has no adequate method of solid waste disposal I feel that your
Department, the State Health Department, The Weld County Commissioners, and
the Communities involved should attempt to find a solution to this problem.'
Perhaps a container system would be worth consideration.
The situation cannot be allowed to continue, and I am reluctant to take
enforcement action on these sites without trying to find a more satisfactory
solution to the problem. Therefore it would be appreciated if you could
supply this Department with any information you have regarding solid waste
disposal in this area.
