re: Barefoot Lakes Roadway Annexations
Dear Commissioners:
Thank you very much for efforts to complete final steps to allow the Barefoot Lakes Filing No. 1
subdivision plat to be completed and recorded. As you are aware, the Town of Firestone has
been working with the developer for the past several months to negotiate agreements and process
the annexation of their entire 1,300 acre planned development. Our annexation documents
anticipate the recording of the replat you are currently processing and will be recorded once the
plat has been recorded.
As you are aware, the annexation application we have approved includes annexation of some of
the "arterial" roadways, specifically WCR 9.5 and a portion of WCR 28. The developer was not
able to include all of the adjacent roadways because at the time they were still annexed to the
Town of Mead. Those affected roadways have now been disconnected by Mead and the Town
of Firestone has begun the necessary surveys to so that we can ask Weld County to petition to
annex these roads to Firestone. I have included a simple exhibit that generally shows the
roadways that will be the subject of that petition. Please note that in addition to annexing WCR
11 and WCR 28 that are adjacent to the Barefoot Lakes development, Firestone is proposing to
annex the Frontage Road/WCR 9.5 from WCR 24.5 up to and including the existing bridge over
1-25.
Just as soon as our survey is completed and the annexation maps prepared we will make a formal
application to Weld County. In the mean time we would like our staff to start working with Weld
County staff on drafting the annexation petition and the annexation agreement.
