Re: Platte River Power Authority Transmission Line
Gentlemen:
James Doke and his attorney, William J. McCarren, have informed us that
the location of a portion of the Platte River Power Authority's planned
transmission line in Weld County was discussed at a working session of
the Commissioners on February 14, 1977. We are interested in the actual
location of this line, insofar as it will pass through or near our prop-
erty.
Mr. Doke has indicated to us that the Power Authority is agreeable to
relocating the power line so that it will abut, within two feet, the east
side of the existing fence lines along the west boundary of .the Doke prop-
erty. It is our understanding that this relocation would affect not
only the pole to be placed upon the Doke property, but also the two poles
immediately to the north and to the south of the Doke property. It is
our understanding that this relocation has been suggested in order to
minimize the impact upon the property over which the poles will be placed.
If the poles are closer to the fence line, this will make it easier to
farm around them.
We understand that the County Commissioners have no objection to this
modification of the proposed location of the three poles, and that this
matter has been scheduled for further consideration at 10:00 A.M. on
February 23, 1977, in the meeting room of the County Commissioners. We
understand that we may appear at this hearing, if we wish to express fur-
ther views regarding the location of the poles.
By this letter, we do not intend to waive any claims for damages to our
property which may result from the placement of the poles, nor do we
acquiesce in the selection of our property as the right-of-way for the
transmission lines. However, since it appears that the lines will in fact
be erected in the vicinity of Weld County Road No. 3, and that our prop-
erty will be affected, we do favor the location of the poles adjacent
to the existing fence lines, in lieu of the presently planned location
which would be approximately twenty or twenty-five feet to the-east of
the existing fence line.
We further understand that we may appear at the hearing on February 23,
if we wish to review this matter any further with the County Commissioners.
