RESOLUTION
RE: APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF COUNTY ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld Count Colorado, pursuant to
Y,
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Section 5-1 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter authorizes the Board of
Weld County Commissioners to appoint a County Attorney who shall exercise all legal and
administrative functions of the County government assigned by law or the Board to the County
Attorney, and
WHEREAS,qualifications for the County Attorney, per Section 5-2 of the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, require that the County Attorney shall be a resident of the County of Weld and duly
licensed as an attorney by the State of Colorado for at least five (5) years immediately prior to his
appointment, and shall have been actively engaged in the practice of law during such five years.
WHEREAS,the Board of Weld County Commissioners deems it advisable to appoint Bruce
Barker, as Weld County Attorney, effective July 1, 2015.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that Bruce Barker be, and hereby is, appointed County Attorney, effective July 1,
2015.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 1st day of July, A.D., 2015.
