REMARKS: October activity showed a decline in caseload. The Aid to Dependent Children
caseload decreased by 25 households (95 persons) . 168 fewer households (716 persons)
purchased Food Stamps compared with the prior month. Caseload counts at the end of
October, 1977 are approximately the same as the number carried in October, 1976.
The decline experienced in October is normal for this time of the year and reflects, in
part, employment income available from seasonal agricultural work.
Department expenditures (excluding Old Age Pension) for October were $505,904. This amount
was slightly less than the previous month ($506,366) and $68,748 more than the same month
in 1976. Expenditures compared with budget show 79.8% spent through October compared with
83.3% "on budget" figure for 10 months.
