It is our understanding that this system will service a commercial facility, with no future expansion planned at this time. The wastewater strength is anticipated to be similar to a single family residence because the system will only service a half bath. SITE INVESTIGATION A field investigation, performed on October 14, 2014, consisted of drilling one (1) profile hole to a depth of eight (8) feet and four (4) percolation holes to an average depth of thirty-two (32) inches. Percolation tests were performed on October 15, 2014. The Location of the Test Holes is shown on Drawing No. 1A. A Log of Borings is shown on Figure No. 2. The descriptions of the soils and/or bedrock strata are based, primarily, on visual and tactual methods which are subject to interpretation. The percolation test area was established by a representative of CDS Engineering Corporation based on a site plan provided by M3 Construction. Distances from the referenced features were made by taping and angles were estimated. Other than the distances to setback objects indicated on the design documents, no other objects requiring setbacks from the proposed on-site wastewater treatment system (OWTS), as indicated in Tables 30-7-1 and 30-7-2 of the Weld County Regulations, have been located or observed during our exploration. SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION The site is located southeast of Grover, south of County Road 118, on the east side of County Road 95, Weld County, Colorado. The site is generally in a plains region with dirt roads and vegetation had been stripped from the site. The site is relatively flat. No rock outcrops, water wells or other water features were observed at this site. Historically, this site appears to have been used for agriculture. 2 Based on a site plan provided to us by M3 Construction, there do not appear to be any easements on the property. However, we recommend title work be completed prior to construction to ensure the property is clear of easements. From information provided on the County Property Information Portal Maps, this property is not located in a floodplain. At this time we understand that there are not additional improvements planned. SUBSOILS AND GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS Silt — Silts with slight amounts of sand and clay were encountered to the depths explored in the profile hole. The silts appear to be slightly moist, stiff, and light brown. Groundwater levels were recorded as the borings were advanced, after completion of the drilling operations and twenty-four (24) hours after the drilling operations. During our field explorations groundwater was not encountered in the profile hole. We do not anticipate the high groundwater level to be within four (4) feet of the infiltrative surface. PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS A total of four (4) percolation tests were conducted on the site, using the Standard Test Method, as described by the Weld County Health Department. Percolation test holes were presoaked on October 14, 2014, and the test was performed on October 15, 2014. The percolation exploration indicated percolation rates of 54, 69, 120 and 60 minutes per inch with an average percolation rate of 76 minutes per inch. Based on the conditions described above, an Evapotranspiration absorption system should be suitable for this site. It is our understanding that this facility will operate 24 hours a day with no more than five (5) employees on site at any given time. In addition to the employees, 125 trucks per day will come through the site. For design purposes we anticipate 1/3 of the truck drivers (42) will use the restroom facility. 3 INFILTRATIVE SURFACE AREA CALCULATIONS Flow Calculations: 10 employees = 20 GPD/employee = 200 GPD 42 truck drives = 5 GPD/driver = 210 GPD Design Flow = 410 GPD Minimum Septic Tank Size = 1000 Gallons LTAR = 0.20 GPD/square foot (Table 30- 10- 1 , (WCHD On-Site Wastewater Regulations) Adjustment Factors (Tables 30-10-2, 30-10-3, (WCHD On-Site Wastewater Regulations) - Gravity Bed = 1 .2 - Chambers = 0.7 Minimum Area = 2028 sq. ft., See Water Balance Spreadsheet Effective area of chamber: 9.2 sq. ft./chamber Required Number of Chambers = 54 units Type of chamber to be used: *Infiltrator Quick 4 Plus High Capacity *Chamber information based on published material by Infiltrator Systems, Inc. Positive drainage from, and around, the bed must be provided by sloping, mounding, ditching or berming. CONCLUSIONS The system should be constructed by a licensed septic system installer, in accordance with the County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Regulations. An effluent filter could be installed in or after the septic tank and may provide a longer life for the system. Minimum dimensions and setback requirements specified by the state or county health department regulations shall be upheld. It is the contractor's/owner's responsibility to inform the engineer or health department of anything not mentioned in this report that may impact the performance of the septic system. This system is to meet all rules and regulations set forth by the (Larimer Weld Boulder) County Health Department. The system is to be inspected by a representative of the (Larimer Weld Boulder) County Health Department and Engineer, prior to backfilling. All future owners are to be directed to information in Appendix I (General Maintenance Recommendations) of this report. These tests are only valid for the areas tested. Additional percolation tests and soil profile information will be required if the septic system is to be constructed 6 in a different location than covered by this exploration. The findings and recommendations of this report have been obtained in accordance with accepted engineering practices in the field of Geotechnical Engineering. There is no other warranty, either expressed or implied. The county health department has final acceptance over these test results and referenced system. All construction shall be in compliance with the septic system permit. Calculation Checks: Water Balance: OK Field Volume Storage: OK Water Level in Field: OK APPENDIX I GENERAL MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEMS The following minimum recommendations, if followed, should help increase the lifetime of the system: 1 . Septic tanks should be pumped as often as needed based on usage. Generally when the scum layer plus the sludge layer equals 25% of the liquid depth in the tanks, it should be pumped out. 2. Septic tanks and distribution boxes should be checked at least once a year for sludge accumulation which may clog the leach area if overflow occurs. 3 . The leach area should not be used for grazing, sports activities, traffic, or other activity which may compact the soils. 4. Schedule 80 pipe should be used if lines are to be placed under driveways. 5. Trees should not be planted within 10 feet of the leach area so as to prevent roots from clogging the system. 6. If trees are to be planted nearby, they should be located so that the leach area is not shaded. 7. Overuse of strong chemicals, which may kill the bacteria in the system and inhibit decomposition of the sewage, should be avoided. 8. Positive drainage should be maintained over and around the absorption field area to prevent pooling of water. REV 07/23/14 Hello
