RE: ANNUAL MEETING AND 2016 BUDGET HEARING - SOUTHWESTERN WELD
COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY
A public hearing was conducted on December 14, 2015, at 1:50 p.m., with the following present:
Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer, Chair
Commissioner Mike Freeman, Pro-Tem
Commissioner Sean P. Conway
Commissioner Julie A. Cozad
Commissioner Steve Moreno
Also present:
Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
County Attorney, Bruce Barker
Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden
The following business was transacted:
I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated November 6, 2015, and duly published
November 11, 2015, in the Greeley Tribune, the Annual Meeting of the Southwestern Weld
County Law Enforcement District Authority Board was conducted, and a public hearing was
conducted to consider the proposed 2016 Budget for the Southwestern Weld County Law
Enforcement Authority (LEA) District. Donald Warden, Director of Finance and Administration,
recommended approval of the budget, in the amount of $1,935.00, supported by 7.0 mills in
property tax. He also noted the district has been de-bruced so there are no Tabor limitations, and
the amount is used for extraordinary patrol services by the Sheriffs Office. In response to
Commissioner Cozad, Mr. Warden stated much of the development has been annexed into
neighboring municipalities which excludes inclusion into the LEA. Mr. Barker confirmed the
annexed properties are automatically removed from the Special District.
El No public testimony was offered concerning this matter.
Commissioner Conway moved to approve the Resolution to Adopt the Budget, in the amount
of$1,935.00. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cozad, and it carried unanimously.
ki Commissioner Moreno moved to approve the Resolution to Appropriate Sums of Money.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cozad, and it carried unanimously.
Commissioner Cozad moved to approve the Resolution to Set the Mill Levy at 7.0 mills. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Conway, and it carried unanimously.
Commissioner Conway moved to approve the Law Enforcement Agreement and authorize
the Chair to sign. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cozad, and it carried unanimously.
There being no further discussion, the hearing was completed at 1:54 a.m.
