Population has increased from 382 in 1970 to approximately 750 in 1978. This hay: placed an overload on the towns existing pump during peak periods causing it to burn out. In that the Weld County Comprehensive Plan directs growth to existing communities, such a; Gilerest, where services are available to serve growth, it is in keeping with our Plan that such services. .-. be upgraded when necessary to meet increased growth pressures. This project conforms wit'. the Division of Planning's recommended growth policies Ili the following areas: pottery. of dcvelopment. The proposed project would direct growth to a subdivision contiguous with a built-up portion of the incorporated Town of Gilcrest. Location of development. The existing community appears to be financially capable of accommodating the proposed gro•.:th, and is in fact proposing to pay for 80 percent of the project cost with local funds. Type _of_deve.lopment. The proposed improvements are apparently necessary to meet demand created by a 3.6 percent annual growth rate (as measured from 1970 to 1975). In consequence, the Division recommends approval of the project. PBS/btm 5)0 Stale Centennial Building, 1313 She•man Street, Den.er, Colorado 80203 (303) 892-2351 Hello
