Minutes WELD COUNTY COUNCIL January 19, 2015 The Weld County Council met in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter, Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Weld County Administration Building, Greeley, CO. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by Councilwoman Marge Klein and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of members thereof: Councilwoman Marge Klein Councilman Brett Abernathy Councilman Don Mueller Councilman Jordan Jemiola Councilman Charles Tucker Also present: Commissioner Kirkmeyer, Commissioner Conway, Commissioner Cozad and Sarah Mundt, Council Secretary. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Councilman Mueller made a motion to approve the January 19, 2015 agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilman Tucker and the motion carried. APPROVAL OF MINUTES AND REPORT TO THE PEOPLE: • Formal Approval of the December 15, 2014 Minutes, Councilman Tucker motioned to accept the Minutes. The motion was seconded by Councilman Abernathy and the motion carried. PRESENTATION: Board of County Commissioners Commissioner Kirkmeyer, Commissioner Conway and Commissioner Cozad appeared to present to the Council. The Commissioners presented the 2015 Review, focusing on the County's Urban Renewal Development, various Intergovernmental Agreements, such as dispatch communications, FRIC and AdComm, the development of an internal IT department with an addition of an IT security position, organizational changes to Human Services, and Public Works' commitment to WCR 49 and the 1-25 Coalition, which received $25 million in funding. The County is in the best financial situation it has ever been and it is largely due to the planning and foresight of Finance Director, Don Warden. Team Weld County is the mindset of the County. Commissioner Cozad appreciated the insight and leadership of the fellow Commissioners. She reviewed her experiences as a Commissioner up to date and announced her plans to have office hours in Southwest County and Coffee With Cozad meetings. PUBLIC COMMENT: None at this time OLD BUSINESS: None at this time NEW BUSINESS: • Election of Council President and Vice-President for 2015 o Councilman Jemiola nominated Councilman Abernathy as President, Councilman Mueller seconded and the motion carried unanimously. o Councilman Abernathy nominated Councilman Jemiola as Vice President, Councilman Mueller seconded and the motion carried unanimously. • Coordinator Assignments • Identify Programs to be invited to present to the Council in 2015 • Coordinator Reports- Brown Bag Luncheon was reviewed by Councilman Tucker. • Upcoming Meetings/Invitations- South Platte River Restoration Master Plan, February 5th from 2:00-4:00pm at Riverside Library and Cultural Center's Golden Room (3700 Golden St. Evans, CO) RSVP by January 30th 970-475-1136 o Councilwoman Klein will attend, Councilman Tucker will check his schedule, and Councilman Jemiola will attend • Pay bills— Councilman Abernathy made a motion to pay all bills, Councilman Mueller seconded the motion, and the motion carried. ✓ Mileage for Councilman Mueller $ 5.94 ✓ Mileage for Councilman Abernathy $ 9.72 ✓ Mileage for Councilwoman Klein $ 102.06 ✓ Mileage for Councilman Tucker $ 41.04 ADJQURNME T: By acclamation, th eeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. anuary , 20 Council President Brett Abernathy Council Secretary Sarah Mundt Hello
