RE: EXPRESSION OF SUPPORT FOR CREATION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 34 COALITION
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County recognizes and values
U.S. Highway 34 as a significant transportation corridor in northern Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County desires to work with municipalities and other counties to
address safety and transportation needs, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County desires to send a strong
message to our elected officials and state and federal agencies that U.S. Highway 34 is important
to the long-term health and economic development of our region, and
WHEREAS, in order to qualify for funding to improve safety, access, economic
development opportunities, long range planning and other efforts along the U.S. Highway 34
corridor, the U.S. Highway 34 Coalition will advocate for funding and assist local entities to apply
grants

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of Weld County and the region to have
the U.S. Highway 34 Coalition representing the region and the Weld County Board of County
Commissioners pledges to have two members and staff support available for meetings.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board that full support and
encouragement is given to the U.S. Highway 34 Coalition with a pledge to have two members and
staff available for meetings.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that it pledges to consider matching funds for
grants as part of the budget process.

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 27th day of July, A.D., 2015.
