WHEREAS, one in every four families is affected by mental health disorders in a given year, and in °
s. .s, . 2014, Weld County lost 54 lives to suicide, marking its highest recorded deaths by suicide ever, r
� s which.was an 11% increase over 2013, and t t

WHEREAS, prevention is an effective way to reduce the burden of mental health and addiction ' 'eiactv
conditions, and access to medically necessary medication and treatment helps prevent individuals °` `i x"
- from ending up in emergency rooms and corrections facilities, from becoming homeless, and most °• z "
a� • importantly, prevents suicide, and _ .
co), WHEREAS, it costs 6.5 times more to incarcerate an individual experiencing mental health issues °4i y io)r
than to treat them in the community, and comprehensive, community-based services which '-
-:` o�_ respond to individuals with mental health needs and their families are cost-effective and beneficial - i

WHEREAS, Mental Health Month is nationally recognized,every May to raise awareness about
