There were 26 people in the audience. Charter Commission members present were: At Large: John Chuck Carlson Ralph E. Waldo, Jr. District #1: District #2: District #3: John L. Weigand. , Glen R. Anderson Walter L. Bain J. L. Johnson John T. Martin George H. Brooks Ruben Schissler Harold Fahrenbruch Questions and comments from the audiences Adolph Bohlender -- LaSalle --- Do the Commissioners have the right to hire and fire the Planning Director? How would the County Council go about making a change? Frank Stewart -- LaSalle --- With these qualifications on the Sheriff, you are. limiting our choice and chance of getting a good Sheriff. Joe Stockton -- LaSalle --- Why qualifications only on the Sheriff-and not on the Commissioners? Leonard Abbott -- Platteville --- County is not the biggest spender -- the school district is. Charter is establishing an enormous bureaucracy -- everybody responsible to himself. If County government is so complicated, the coordinator would just begin to learn his job and then you are going to move him on. Ben Knoll -- Platteville Where does the line come between a coordinator and administrator? Do you have an outline for the duties of the Commissioners? • -2- Roy Moser -- Hudson --- What would happen without some of the Federal programs we now have? Charter will run the cost of government to high. Doesn't think the County Council can control much of what the Commissioners do. Are there any qualifications for the County Council? Who would want to serve as a watchdog? If the cost of everything else goes up, the cost of government must go up. If Home Rule will provide more efficient government, then I'm all for it. The 5% increase would be disruptive to the road funds and the welfare department. Hello
