SUBJECT: 2015 Concrete/Washed Rock/Squeegee, B1500045
The Public Works Department recommends that the Board of County Commissioners award the washed rock
to Varra Companies for northern Weld County at a price of$15.00 per ton and Aggregate Industries for
southern Weld County at a price of$12.00 per ton. Both vendors were the lowest bidders.
The Public Works Department recommends that the bid for squeegee be awarded to Varra Companies for
northern Weld County at a price of$4.00 per ton and Aggregate Industries for southern Weld County at a price
of$2.50 per ton. Both vendors were the lowest bidders.
The Public Works Department recommends that Class B Concrete be awarded to Bestway Concrete, for
northern and southern Weld County at a price of$110.60 per yard. If Bestway Concrete is unable to provide
concrete, we would like the ability to purchase Class B concrete from Varra Companies. Bestway Concrete
will not deliver concrete north of Weld County Road 74 or south of Weld County Road 2. Therefore, we would
purchase the concrete from Varra Companies for locations north of Weld County Road 74 at a price of$116.50
per yard. Both vendors were the lowest bidders.
The Public Works Department recommends that Class D Concrete be awarded to Varra Companies for both
northern and southern Weld County at a price of$119.00 per yard. If Varra Companies is unable to provide
concrete, we would like the ability to purchase Class D concrete from Bestway Concrete.
We further recommend that Flowfill/Lean Encasement be awarded to Varra Companies for northern Weld
County at a price of$97.00 per yard. We recommend that Flowfill /Lean Encasement for southern Weld
County be awarded to Bestway Concrete at a price of$83.60 per yard. Bestway Concrete will not deliver
concrete north of Weld County Road 74 or south of Weld County Road 2. Therefore, we would purchase the
Flowfill/Lean Encasement from Varra Companies for locations north of Weld County Road 74 at a price of
$97.00 per yard. Both vendors were the lowest bidders.
A total of$68,000 is budgeted for this purchase.
