Box 758 Greeley,CO 80631 Weld County Board of Equalization: I am writing to appeal the assessment made for our property at 203 Graefe Ave. in Ault. We have an old home to which we built on a new addition.When the assessor came to evaluate the property, he said that the assessment should be approximately the value of the old house plus the cost of construction for the new addition. According to my figures that should come to$212,335.39. Attached is the estimate given us by our contractor,which came to$116,650.00. Because of changes in our basic plans it was necessary to write him a final check in the amount of$11,084.90. The building permit for the town of Ault came to$2,875.49,and we paid our architect$1,725.00 I'm not sure whether the building permit and the architectural fees should be counted as part of the value of the property. If so the cost of construction would be as follows: $127,734.90 actual construction costs 2,875.49 building permit 1,725.00 architectural drawings $132,335.39 This, added to the current assessment of the old part of the house ($80,000.00)would make a grand total of$212,335.39,which is considerably less than your official assessment of$275,732.00.
