VETERANS DAY
NOVEMBER 11, 2016
WHEREAS, throughout our history the freedoms we enjoy as Americans
have been purchased and maintained at a high price by individuals who
have been willing to fight and die to preserve our rights guaranteed in
the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and
WHEREAS, Veterans Day was originally commemorated in honor of the
end of World War I which finally ended with a peace agreement between
the Allied Nations and Germany on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the
11th month, or November 11th, and later served to honor the veterans
of all wars, and
WHEREAS, Veterans Day serves to honor these dedicated men and
women, as we pledge our continued defense of our nation so that their
sacrifice will stand before the entire world as a tribute to the spirit and
determination of a people dedicated to the principles of freedom and
democracy, and
NOW, THEREFORE, let it be known that in honor of Veterans Day,
November 11, 2016, the Board of Weld County Commissioners does
hereby call upon the citizens of Weld County to make a commitment in
honoring our veterans, especially those who died while serving our
county, and rededicate themselves to the preservation of our liberties
under the Constitution.
