Home My WebLink About20162638.tiffRESOLUTION RE: APPROVE CERTIFICATION OF NEED FOR PROVISION OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES PURSUANT TO SECTION 39-3-111.5, C.R.S. WHEREAS, the real and/or personal property located at the following addresses is owned by University of Colorado Health, a Colorado nonprofit corporation exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended ("UCHealth"), collectively referred to as the "Properties": 11083 Colorado Boulevard Real and Personal Property, and WHEREAS, such real and personal property located at the Properties is leased to private physician practices run by physicians licensed in Colorado ("Lessors") to provide the following health care services, and includes the percentage of patients who are identified as charity/Medicaid/self-pay/Medicare/medically indigent patients seen at each location (collectively referred to as the "Health Care Services"): 11083 Colorado Boulevard Family Medicine Pediatrics Dermatology General Surgery OB-Gyn, and WHEREAS, twenty-five percent (25%) of the patients served at this location are identified as charity/Medicaid/self-pay/Medicare/medically indigent patients, and WHEREAS, UCHealth has required the Lessors to comply with the UCHealth requirements to: (1) provide health care services to patients who request such services, and (2) charge needy patients based on their ability to pay, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Weld County has determined that it is in the best interest of public health, safety and welfare to insure that Weld County residents have adequate access to health care services, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for Weld County has determined that a need exists for the provision of the Health Care Services at the Properties, and WHEREAS, Section 39-3-111.5, C.R.S., authorized this Board to pass this Resolution. University of Colorado Health has a new health building in Firestone that opened this week, and they are hoping to get the tax exemption application filed with DOLA. They are requesting a resolution similar to the one the BOCC did this spring for the Greeley facility. DOLA requires a certification of need resolution from the BOCC. I recommend approval.
