WHEREAS, the petitioner was present, and WHEREAS, there was no opposition to the request of petitioner to locate said dairy operation on the above described premises, and WHEREAS, the said requested dairy operation is located in an Agricultural Zone as set forth by the Weld County Zoning Resolution, and WHEREAS, according to Section 3. 3(3)(c) of the Zoning Resolution of Weld County, said dairy operation or any expansion thereof may be autho- rized upon the approval of the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners heard all the testi- mony and statements of those present; has studied the request of the petitioner and studied the recommendations of the Weld County Planning Commission and having been fully informed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners, that the application of Jimmy Boos, Route 1, Box 48, Platteville, Colorado, to locate a dairy farm operation on the premises indi- cated above be, and it hereby is granted under the conditions following: 1. That any water and sanitation facilities to be installed shall be approved by the State Health Department. 2. That petitioner shall proceed with due diligence to construct said dairy operation and shall have up to one (1) year from date hereof to begin construction of same; otherwise, the Board may, for good cause shown, on its own motion, revoke the permit herein granted. 3. I have farmed with my father since I was about 12 years old ( a.pproximately 22 years). When I was about 18 years old , I went into partnership farming with my brother-in-law. About two years later, my brother-in-law quit farming and I went into a farming partnership with my father. We begn_i our nartnershin in 1962. We farmed between 300 and 400 acres of irrigated farm .round (my father' s 80 acres and the rest we leased from neighbors) most of the tine. iqy father and I also had a dairy set ur. We began milking approxi-'ately 40 to 45 dairy cows and shinned Trade C to Johnstown for a few years. We then decided to shin Grade A and in- crease our dairy herd to approximately 110 cows. I"y father and I continued in this partnership for 10 years, until 1972, when my father decided to sell his farm and move to town dne to ill health. At this time I decided to move to town also. Unon moving to town, I got a job with ITil i top TTomeb„ilders Inn. in Longmont as a framing carpenter on one of their framing crews. I worked for Hilltop ITomebuilders for approximately 2' years. I lied my job and the people I worked for and with but, just did not li''e living in town and working for so^:eo'ie else after living on a farm -2— and working for myself all of my life. T•Ty wife and two sons wanted to move back on a farm also. We looked for a farm to buy for a little over a year before we found the one we wanted. Vie began the process of purchasing the Burr E. Magl-e farm, located approximately four miles Northwest of Platteville, about nine months ago. We finally closed the purchase on Wednesday, ray 28th, 1975. I am planning to operate a small, Grade C dairy consisting of approxi— mately 30 to 35 dairy cows that I plan to purchase just as soon as I am able to build a dairy barn on my farm. The dairy operation is planned so as to provide living expenses and to aid on some of the farming expense. The dairy will be operated by my wife, Sandra, our two eons, Tim ( age 13) and Kenny (age 4) and myself. We will have no hired help in the dairy operation. We plan to keep only four or five heifer calves per year for replace- ment cows. All other offspring will be sold immediately. I plan to raise all of my own feed for this dairy operation. As I mentioned earlier in this letter, I will be farming approximately 200 irrigated acres. I am raising alfalfa, barley, silage corn and sugar beets on our 80 acres and on the approximate 120 acres I am leasing. The alfalfa and silage corn will be stored in the area indicated in the survey of the dairy plot plan. The barley will be stored at the local grain mill and hauled out to my farm as needed. I plan to build the dairy barn myself since I have had considerable experience in construction. The drainage from our dairy operation will go into a lagoon which has been inspected by Mr. Glen Paul of the Public Health Department and meets with his departments approval. Ty family and I are eagerly looking forward to beginning our dairy operation because we have been in dairying before and enjoyed it. We like working with the cows and farming the ground. We are glad to be back on the farm and plan considerable improvement to make it a good, clean, efficient and attractive farm of which we can be very proud. He informs me that the existing well on this farm has been used to supply the domestic needs including the household uses of one single family dwelling and the livestock uses on that property. He also asserts that the total irrigated area including lawn and garden would be approximately one f burth acre.
