RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 72 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 55 AND 61 FOR
APPROXIMATELY THREE (3) WEEKS, FOR WATER MAIN REPAIR
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on said County roads by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 72, between County Roads 55 to 57,
County Road 55 to Intersection, County Roads 57 to 59, and County Road 59 Intersection be
temporarily closed for work to be done in segments over 21 days, with said closure being effective
November 14, 2016, for approximately three (3) weeks, to replace the existing two (2) inch water
main with a new eight (8) inch water main in order to serve the Aurora Dairy, and further, that
standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the
restrictions.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
H&H Excavation is asking to close CR 72 between CR 55 to CR 61, on behalf of North Weld
County Water District, beginning November 14th through December 5th, to replace the existing
2" water main with a new 8" water main in order to serve the Aurora Dairy. The current water
line is beyond the capacity needed to maintain adequate pressure and supply to the dairy and
current residences being serviced in this area. The new waterline will be placed along the south
edge of CR 72 roadway due to other utilities and irrigation structures already occupying the
ROW.
The closures will be done in segments over the 21 days:
CR55to57
CR 55 Intersection
CR 57 to 59
CR 59 Intersection
