WELD COUNTY COUNCIL
March 21, 2016
The Weld County Council met in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter,
Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Weld County Administration Building, Greeley, CO.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by Councilman Jemiola and on roll call the
following members were present, constituting a quorum of members thereof:
Councilwoman Marge Klein-Excused
Councilman Brett Abernathy
Councilman Don Mueller
Councilman Jordan Jemiola
Councilman Charles Tucker
Also present: John Lefebvre, County Treasurer, and Sarah Mundt, Council Secretary.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Councilman Abernathy made a motion to approve the March
21, 2016 agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilman Mueller and the motion
carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: February 22, 2016 Minutes. The motion was made to
approve the minutes by Councilman Mueller and the motion was seconded by
Councilman Abernathy and the motion carried.
REVIEW PROGRAM:
John Lefebvre, County Treasurer
Treasurer's office collects taxes from the county and about 300 underlying authorities
and redistribute the monies back to the underlying authorities and invest the remainder.
Also the treasurer sits as the Chair of the Retirement Board and responsible to file the
paperwork for the retirement fund. The fund is going well and the County has been able
to achieve almost a fully funded plan, expecting 95% funded or better, by the end of the
year. The Treasurer's office is set to collect $712 million this year, the largest amount in
the County's history. Bright Futures is also housed in the Treasurer's office. The
BOCC set aside $15 million towards the program to encourage donation into the
program. The goal is to guarantee $3,000 towards the first year in college, and
hopefully each year after, up to four years. The Office has added a personnel allocation
and a software program to help track the program.

seconded by Councilman Abernathy and the motion carried.

✓ Mileage for Councilman Tucker $19.44
ADJOURNMENT: By acclamation, the meeting was adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
The next Regular Meeting of the Weld County Council will be on March 21, 2016 at the
Weld County Administration Building. Councilman Mueller will contact Director of
Finance and Administration, Don Warden, and ask him to present /J
