SUBJECT: 2016 Concrete/Washed Rock/Squeegee, B1600039
The Public Works Department recommends that the Board of County Commissioners award the washed rock to J2
Contracting for northern Weld County at a price of $16.00 per ton and Varra Companies for southern Weld County at a
price of $16.50 per ton. J2 Contracting was the lowest bidder for southern Weld County, but they have only one plant
which is located in Greeley. Varra Companies has a plant on Highway 66 which will be closer to projects' located in south
Weld County.
The Public Works Department recommends that the bid for squeegee be awarded to Varra Companies for northern
and southern Weld County at a price of $4.00 per ton. Varra Companies was the low bidder for squeegee.
The Public Works Department recommends that Class B Concrete be awarded to Varra Companies for northern Weld
County at a price of $122.50 per yard and southern Weld County at a price of $122.00 per yard. Varra Companies was
the low bidder.
The Public Works Department recommends that Class D Concrete be awarded to Varra Companies for northern Weld
County at a price of $125.00 per yard and southern Weld County at a price of $124.50 per yard. Varra Companies was
the low bidder.
We further recommend that Flowfill/Lean Encasement be awarded to Varra Companies for northern and southern Weld
County at a price of $103.00 per yard. Martin Marietta was the lowest bidder per yard but when minimum load charges,
winter charges, and Hi Early costs are figured in based on the total yards of concrete needed for 2016, they are no longer
the lowest bidder.
A total of $94,800 is budgeted for this purchase.
