Re: Disaster Recovery Funding Allocation
Dear Commissioner Freeman:
We are pleased to inform you that Weld County has been awarded funding for disaster recovery
projects from the Colorado Disaster Emergency Fund (DEF). These funds are administered by the
Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM). This funding was
made available via an exchange of qualified state disaster expenses paid from the DEF and funding
available from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This funding transfer
allows Colorado communities the time and funds needed to complete projects previously approved
as HUD disaster recovery projects. The amount of funding allocated to the County is up to
$750,000.00. The County is responsible for environmental compliance and any permits required for
the project.
The next steps in moving forward with this funding include:
• DHSEM will work with Weld County staff to refine the milestones and project outcomes
provided to date to finalize the project funding strategy.
• DHSEM will prepare a draft project grant agreement and submit it to the County for review.
This grant agreement may include funding adjustments agreed to by the County and DHSEM.
