PROCLAMATION
NATIONAL ADOPTION DAY - NOVEMBER 19, 2016
WELD COUNTY ADOPTION DAY - NOVEMBER 18, 2016
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners recognizes November 19,
2016 as National Adoption Day, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners also recognizes the
importance of giving children and youth permanent, safe, and loving families
through adoption, and
WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children in the United States foster care system
are waiting to be adopted, and
WHEREAS, more than 280 children in Colorado, including 30 children in Weld
County, are waiting for forever families and legal permanency, and
WHEREAS, to celebrate upcoming adoptions of Weld County children, the Weld
County Department of Human Services, along with the 19th Judicial District and
other local organizations, will hold a special celebration on Friday, November 18,
2016, to finalize adoptions of local children who have found permanent and.
nurturing families, and
WHEREAS, this effort, along with Similar celebrations in all 50 states, District of
Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico; will offer children the chance to live stable
and loving families and encourage other dedicated individuals to make a
powerful difference in the lives of a Child through adoption.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE KNOWN that the Board of County
Commissioners does hereby proclaim Friday, November 18, 2016, as Weld
County Adoption Day, and Saturday, November 19, 2016, as National Adoption
Day, and in so doing, urges all citizens to join in a national effort to raise
awareness about the importance of adoption.
