The following business was transacted:
el I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated November 30, 2016, and duly published
December 5, 2016, in the Greeley Tribune, the Annual Meeting of the Southwestern Weld County
Law Enforcement District Authority Board was conducted, and a public hearing was conducted to
consider the proposed 2017 Budget for the Southwestern Weld County Law Enforcement
Authority (LEA) District. Donald Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, distributed a
map reflecting the location of the original LEA boundary and the area which has subsequently
been annexed by the Town of Firestone. The remaining parcel has an assessed value of $10.00,
therefore, he explained it needs to be retained for the original intent in the event of future
development. He further stated that pursuant to State statute, if a budget is not created for a
five-year period, then the district is automatically dissolved. Therefore, he recommended the
Board not levy the 7.0 mills but keep the budget in the amount of $500.00. He also noted the
district has been de-bruced so there are no Tabor limitations, and the amount is intended to be
used for extraordinary patrol services by the Sheriffs Office in the event of development in the
future.
No public testimony was offered concerning this matter.
Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve the Resolution to Adopt the Budget, in the
amount of $500.00. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Conway, and it carried
unanimously.
Commissioner Cozad moved to approve the Resolution to Appropriate Sums of Money. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Moreno, and it carried unanimously.
Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve the Resolution to Set the Mill Levy at 0.0 mills.
