HomeMy WebLinkAbout20163784.tiffHEARING CERTIFICATION DOCKET NO. 2016-101 RE: ANNUAL MEETING AND 2017 BUDGET HEARING - SOUTHWESTERN WELD COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY A public hearing was conducted on December 14, 2016, at 9:00 a.m., with the following present: Commissioner Mike Freeman, Chair Commissioner Sean P. Conway, Pro-Tem Commissioner Julie A. Cozad Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer Commissioner Steve Moreno Also present: Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick County Attorney, Bruce Barker Director of Finance and Administration, Donald D. Warden The following business was transacted: el I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated November 30, 2016, and duly published December 5, 2016, in the Greeley Tribune, the Annual Meeting of the Southwestern Weld County Law Enforcement District Authority Board was conducted, and a public hearing was conducted to consider the proposed 2017 Budget for the Southwestern Weld County Law Enforcement Authority (LEA) District. Donald Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, distributed a map reflecting the location of the original LEA boundary and the area which has subsequently been annexed by the Town of Firestone. The remaining parcel has an assessed value of $10.00, therefore, he explained it needs to be retained for the original intent in the event of future development. He further stated that pursuant to State statute, if a budget is not created for a five-year period, then the district is automatically dissolved. Therefore, he recommended the Board not levy the 7.0 mills but keep the budget in the amount of $500.00. He also noted the district has been de-bruced so there are no Tabor limitations, and the amount is intended to be used for extraordinary patrol services by the Sheriffs Office in the event of development in the future. No public testimony was offered concerning this matter. Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve the Resolution to Adopt the Budget, in the amount of $500.00. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Conway, and it carried unanimously. Commissioner Cozad moved to approve the Resolution to Appropriate Sums of Money. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Moreno, and it carried unanimously. Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve the Resolution to Set the Mill Levy at 0.0 mills. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cozad, and it carried unanimously. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Conway, and it carried unanimously. There being no further discussion, the hearing was completed at 10:51 a.m. This Certification was approved on the 19th day of December, 2016.
