Re : Patrol Vehicles
In review of the bid responses that were received for 2016 patrol vehicles, the bid from Spradley
Barr Ford meets the requirements of the Sheriff' s Office and all bid specifications . The bid for
Spradley Barr was $ 225, 832 . 00
Although Spradley Barr was not the lowest bid , the vehicles that were offered are over $ 2, 000
cheaper to outfit with police equipment in comparison to the vehicles offered from John Elway
Chrysler and Johnson Auto Plaza . This would result is the lowest cost per unit after completely
outfitting them with the required police equipment .
The Ford vehicle that is recommended has a large trunk storage capacity and allows for a spare
tire to be carried in the vehicle without negatively affecting available cargo space, where the
Dodge platform does not. The Taurus has a full size spare under a false floor that doesn 't
interfere with cargo space .
Our maintenance facility reported that previous Dodge vehicles in our fleet with the same
specified engine required a significant amount of top end motor work at approximately 120k to
140k .
Finally, the Dodge Charger is a 5 speed vehicle instead of a 6 speed vehicle as require by the
minimum county specifications . The Dodge Charger does not meet specifications .
