HomeMy WebLinkAbout20163592.tiffMEMBERS OF THE TRAVELING VIETNAM WALL COMMITTEE FOR WELD COUNTY PROCLAMATION OF APPRECIATION WHEREAS, Greg Goettsch, Vietnam veteran and Chair of the Traveling Vietnam Wall Committee for Weld County, worked with other members of the committee to bring the Traveling Wall to Weld County for four days, and raised $27,000 to cover the costs, with surplus donated to benefit veterans, and WHEREAS, the Traveling Wall, an 80% replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C., lists all 58,307 names listed on the original monument, including the 1,200 considered missing and the 626 lost from Colorado, and was brought to Weld County this year for the first time in 20 years, and WHEREAS, on September 15, 2016, the Traveling Wall opened in Dacono, Colorado, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Goettsch and the committee, which organized fundraising, marketing, site preparation, lighting, night security, and the agenda for the opening ceremony, among many other responsibilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Board wishes to express its appreciation to Greg Goettsch and the Traveling Vietnam Wall Committee from Weld County for their efforts in bringing the Traveling Wall to Weld County this year. ounty Clerk to the Board Hello
