OF SCHOOLS COLORADO COUNTY SERVICES BUILDING GREELEY,COLORADO 80631 May 6, 1975 Weld County Board of Commissioners Weld County Medical Building Greeley, Colorado Dear Commissioners : The early closing of the office of Weld County Superintendent of Schools is now in the best interests of the citizens of Weld County. All impor- tant school records are microfilmed at this time. I have the official power to appoint and have appointed S.Lee Shehee the Weld County Clerk and Recorder to assume the service function of these records. He will officially assume this function of record service on June 30th as my office is officially abolished. All records and materials from the office are in proper order and either microfilmed or properly labeled are stored in the county storage area. The School Census records, teacher record cards, reorganization records, and some historical materials of Weld County are in permanent bulk storage at the State of Colorado Archives. I will continue to officially serve as Weld County Superintendent of Schools as required by law until the office is abolished June 30, 1975. I will serve without pay until my term ends. In closing this office early all budgeted money for clerical help, salary, travel, etc. will revert back to the county general fund thus saving some taxpayer money. Microfilming of the records was officially concluded on May 6, 1975. The task started in December, 1974. Unfortunately this office could not phase down until completion of the microfilming by the State Archives. With that task now completed there seems no valid reason to continue operation of a functioning office. On May 14, 1975 I will transfer all official records and microfilm to the County Clerk and Recorder and close the office door.
