RE : Lafayette Waste Water Facilities Plan
Gentlemen:
Recently Boulder County sent a referral to this office for review
and comment on the Lafayette Waste Water Facilities Plan. Upon
completion of my review, I found no mention of the proposed Erie
Waste Water Facilities Plan which is only a few miles downstream.
I feel as consulting engineers on the Lafayette Plan you should
give consideration to downstream users of Coal Creek. I would urge
that you contact the Erie Sanitation District and present them a
copy of the Lafayette Plan. Also , I would like you to consider the
Erie design standards to determine that you are not working at cross-
pruposes regarding discharge quality with reference to Coal Creek.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and interest in this
matter.

RE: Docket #SU-77-12, City of Lafayette
Dear Ms. Bryan :
As per the above referenced subject , the Planning Commission and Board of
County Commissioners of Weld County did recommend favorably on the basis
that a wastewater treatment facility is compatible with the existing sur-
rounding land use and that the expansion would allow waste treatment' to
meet approved standards . Additional comments made by the Planning Com-
mission and Board included concern for the developing Larimer-Weld Regional
208 Plan.
Weld County would ask the following two areas be included in your record to
be considered by Lafayette and Boulder County : 1 ) Prior to final plant
design , Lafayette should coordinate with the Erie Waste and Sanitation
District regarding design standards of Erie ' s facilities . This coordination
is important because both facilities as proposed will discharge into Coal
Creek; 2) Prior to any sludge or residual waste disposal in Weld County,
Lafayette should consult the developing Larimer-Weld Regional 208 Plan
regarding such activity.
Weld County officials appreciate the opportunity to address land use pro-
posals adjacent to the County' s boundaries and look forward to continued
cooperation. Under separate cover I am returning the facilities plan ,
document as requested.

SEA-, Sec. 36, T1N, Rg9ff
Moved by Ben Nix that the following resolution be intro-
duced for passage by the Weld County Planning Commission :
I _
Be it therefore Resolved Jy tie Weld County Planning Conmission
that the, following be recommended to the Board of County Commissioners :
1. The proposed plant expansion is compatible with existing land
use in the area.
2. The existing facility is currently operating beyond capacity
and the expansion will allow the facility to meet required
standards.
The Planning Commission feels the following comments should be made
regarding the proposal :
1. Prior to final plant design, Lafayette should coordinate with
the Erie Water and Sanitation District regarding design standards
of Erie' s facilities plan. This coordination is important
because both facilities as proposed will utilize Coal Creek for
discharge.
2. Prior to any sludge or residual waste disposal in Weld County,
Lafayette should consult the developing Larimer—Weld Regional
208 plan regarding such activity.
