Dear Commissioner Julie Cozad,
On behalf of the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District's Board of Directors and Staff, I
am proud to announce that CCWCD was one of seventeen -applicants to receive the USBR
Water Smart Drought Resiliency Award of $750,000, 10.8 percent of the $6.9 million total
awarded. CCWCD is the only entity in Colorado to receive funding. The funds will be used to
complete Phase 1 of the Northeast Colorado Walker Recharge Project and will provide a
direct benefit to many CCWCD constituents through greater and more efficient groundwater
use. Many small communities in Colorado depend directly on the success of individual
agricultural producers to sustain their local economies.
To learn more about the Walker Recharge Project, please do not hesitate to contact me at
(970)330-4540, by email at RRay@ccwcd.org or visit our website at www.ccwcd.org/projects.
I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
We are very thankful that due to receiving this grant from USBR Water Smart Drought Resiliency,
our project will now be able to move forward in a timely manner. The Northeast Colorado
Walker Recharge Project will make a huge contribution to CCWCD in providing a reliable water
supply in times of drought.
