RE: Request for Annexation

The city of Thornton ("Thornton") hereby requests annexation to the Town of Timnath
("Timnath") for approximately 323 acres of Thornton -owned property ("the Property")
pursuant to the terms of the Intergovernmental Agreement between Timnath and Thornton,
dated October 11, 2016 ("the Agreement").
Thornton acquired the Property, along with a number of other properties in Larimer and
Weld Counties, to acquire shares in the Water Supply and Storage Company as part of a
long-term water supply project for Thornton. Thornton is in the permitting phase of the
Thornton Water Project ("the Project"), which will construct the infrastructure necessary to
convey Thornton's water to Thornton. As part of Thornton's Project -related outreach efforts,
Timnath and Thornton staff discussed the mutual benefits of Thornton constructing the
Project within town rights -of -way and of Timnath annexing the Property. These discussions
led to execution of the Agreement and this request for annexation.
The Property is currently leased for irrigated agricultural production, and it will remain in
irrigated agriculture until Thornton determines that the water is needed for municipal water
supply in Thornton, or until the property is sold and developed for other uses. There are no
current plans for development of the Property, and, if the Property is annexed, any future
development will be subject to Timnath's then -applicable development standards.
Enclosed with this letter are the documents required to request annexation, as provided by
the Agreement.
